This Week in UniWords: 34 Bingos, 52 New Players, and a Very Cheesy Opening
It was a busy week on the boards. Players completed 147 games over the past seven days, with 103 games still actively in progress as of today — and a community that now stands at 2,142 players in total, with 52 newcomers joining this week alone. Welcome, all of you. We hope your first rack was kinder than most.
The word action was seriously good. Across 1,751 moves scanned, players played 1,759 unique words — meaning almost every single move this week was something different. Highlights included ENTRANCE for 63 points (English bingo), BALLADEN for 42 points, and — our personal favourite of the week — someone opening an English game with CHEESES for 86 points on turn 1. Bold. Dairy-forward. Effective. English games led the way with 37 games played versus 23 in Danish, though Danish players clearly brought the big guns: four of the top five scoring moves this week were Danish bingos.
With 19 active tournaments running right now and UniWords having now hosted its 100th tournament all-time, there’s never been a better moment to jump into the competitive side of the game. Whether you’re a casual player sneaking in a game at lunch or a bingo hunter eyeing triple-word squares from the opening tile, the UniWords community is growing — and getting sharper every week.
