Another week, another pile of enormous words landing on real UniWords boards. Here are the highest-scoring English plays from the past seven days — every one of them straight from a live game, not a puzzle we set up.
The week’s top English words
- AVARICES — 106 points (bingo). Greed, in the plural. A full seven-tile play that ran the length of a triple word score.
- OAKIEST — 100 points (bingo). Yes, it’s a real word, and yes, it’s worth a hundred points.
- COCKNEY — 98 points (bingo).
- MISRATED — 86 points (bingo). An eight-letter build off a tile already on the board.
- ARMBAND — 83 points (bingo).
- GODLIKE — 82 points (bingo).
- GLOATER — 80 points and TRADUCE — 80 points, tied for the last spot.
If you’re new to the board: a “bingo” is when you use all seven of your tiles in a single turn, which adds a 50-point bonus on top of the word’s score. That’s why so many of these cleared 80 points. Every word is checked against the full Oxford dictionary, so nothing here was a lucky guess that slipped through — they’re all genuinely valid.
How it’s going
UniWords has now passed 2,600 players, and August has been our most active month so far — more people are starting games each day, and more of them are coming back to finish them. The average match still runs about a week, with no turn timers and no ads getting in the way.
