Words that punched above their weight
- DECANTS — 77 points: the week’s other bingo, played on just the second turn of the game.
- TRAYF — 57 points: a Yiddish loanword meaning food that isn’t kosher. Five tiles, fifty-seven points — short words with rare letters remain the quiet assassins of the board.
- JADES — 52 points and SENEX — 50 points: SENEX is Latin for “old man” — and yes, the Oxford wordlist accepts it.
