Most popular free word games make money from ads, in-app purchases or a subscription. UniWords is a word game with no ads, no subscription and nothing to buy in the game. It is free to download and free to play, on iPhone, iPad, Android and in your web browser at play.uniwords.io.

What “completely free” means in UniWords
- No ads. No banners, no videos between moves and no pop-ups asking you to watch something. There is no advertising in the game at all.
- No subscription. There is no subscription to buy in the game and no monthly fee to keep playing, and creating an account is free.
- Nothing to buy in the game. The app sells no coins, boosters or upgrades, so nobody can pay to win.
- The same game for everyone. Everyone who signs up gets the same game, and you can try it as a guest first.
What you can play, for free
- Play your way. Invite a friend, get a random opponent, or practise against the computer on easy, medium or hard.
- Live or at your own pace. Start a live game and finish it in one sitting, or take up to 72 hours per move in a normal game.
- Tournaments. Join official tournaments, or sign up and create a private tournament for your friends.
- Rankings and trophies. Climb the rating ladder and the Top 50 list, and unlock trophies as you play.
- Word explanations. Tap a word to see what it means.
- English and Danish. English words are checked against a dictionary powered by data from Oxford Languages, and Danish words against a word list based on Retskrivningsordbogen.
- Phone and browser. Sign in with Google or email to use the same account on your phone and at play.uniwords.io.
Why UniWords has no ads
A word game is about thinking. An ad between two moves breaks your concentration and turns a relaxed game into something you hurry through. UniWords is built to be a game you can simply play. It is made by Axel Software ApS, a small studio in Copenhagen, Denmark, and people in more than 60 countries play it today.
